Victoria’s favourite ping pong tournament for charity is back! After huge success with BattlePong 2019, we’re excited to welcome Victoria’s tech scene back to the table.

Coming November 17th, 2022: BattlePong returns! After a two-year hiatus, the greatest pong tournament in town is ready for round two, all in the name of charity.

In an epic battle of the paddles, BattlePong brings together the Victoria tech community for an evening of great local eats, delicious drink, and healthy competition in support of World Partnership Walk and the VIATEC Foundation Fund, held at The Victoria Foundation

You can join the competition by buying in as a team and be entered into the fight for fame, glory, and the coveted BattlePong trophy. If your ping pong skills feel out of practice, you can get your hands on a spectator ticket to cheer from the sidelines and enjoy an evening of good food and good fun.

Same location, same great competition—you can find all the details and get tickets here. And don’t forget, there’s always a prize for best team costume!

"All I heard after BattlePong 2019 was, ‘we can't wait for BattlePong 2020...we are IN!’ Well...ahem, Covid...here we are with excitement in 2022! BattlePong is an amazing event for both community & charity to bring together Victorians for some healthy competition, but more importantly, camaraderie. I can't wait to enjoy the night with you all, and to see who takes the title from Kano Apps."

Why are we picking up our paddles again? (And why you should too)

Over 300 spectators and players came out for our inaugural BattlePong tournament in 2019. It was a blowout success with over 17 teams and 14 sponsors getting in on the action. Most importantly, BattlePong 2019 raised over $15,000 for charity.

100% of team entry fees are donated to our charity partners: World Partnership Walk and the VIATEC Foundation Fund, held at The Victoria Foundation. World Partnership Walk invests in community on a global scale, helping millions of people in Africa and Asia break the cycle of poverty and improve quality of life.

The VIATEC Foundation is a Victoria-based community foundation that supports food security, education, homelessness, and other local initiatives. This means funds from your team entry go directly into fostering the vibrant, growing community we all call home.

Not only are you raising funds (and serving up some killer skills), but BattlePong is also an opportunity for the Victoria tech crowd to reconnect. It’s a great evening of networking, healthy competition, and keeping the sense of community within our local industry.

It’s time to start practicing your serve

With BattlePong approaching, our in-house ping pong table is going to see a lot more action during team lunches and Chill Fridays.

While the past few years have put a damper on in-office events, things are slowly getting back to normal and BattlePong is a great excuse to get the team together.

We recommend hosting company-wide qualifying competitions, starting weekly practice sessions, and opening up a Slack channel for all things pong-prep.

Ping pong, to us and many other local tech companies, is more than just an office perk, it’s an opportunity for our teams to take a break from their screens, stretch their legs, and connect over something completely unrelated to work. Accountants play developers, content managers battle analysts, and co-ops get a chance to show their stuff—leaving it all on the table.

BattlePong is a chance for that kind of connection, silly fun, and serious competition to happen across tech companies throughout Victoria. And we do all that while raising money for our community because we can have a huge impact when we all come together for a good cause.

So, as Redbrickers are gearing up to take on the challenge, are you in? Sign up for battle here.
