Redbrick has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top Small and Medium Employers for 2024. We’re excited to celebrate our fifth consecutive year as a top employer.

This marks our fifth year running as one of Canada’s top employers. And, there’s no chance we’re slowing down now! We’re honored to receive this award and want to thank our dedicated People & Culture team for exploring new ways to expand our support for Redbrickers.

"We're honoured to be recognized for this achievement once again. We are continuing to build a culture where people feel supported and valued for who they are, in and outside of work. We are tremendously proud of each and every team member across the Redbrick portfolio and we are grateful to our team for the talent they bring and the effort they give each and every day. Our people are the reason for our success. "

Christine Tatham, Chief People Officer

Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers gives special recognition to Canadian employers who are exploring forward-thinking human resources policies and investing in their teams. The SME selection committee evaluates employers on eight criteria: workplace; work atmosphere & social; health, financial, and family benefits; vacation & time off; employee communications; performance management; training & skills development; and community involvement.

Redbrick was selected for its comprehensive benefits and initiatives, available to employees across the Redbrick family. The SME committee highlighted Redbrick’s approach to “taking care of the whole person,” recognizing that our benefits range from a bike-to-work reimbursement to a robust professional development program.

We’re especially proud to receive recognition for our parental leave program, which offers 52 weeks of maternity and paternity leave with top-up pay and is available to all new parents including adoptive parents and caregivers. If you’re curious about our other benefits, you can find them on our Redbrick Careers page.

"What’s remarkable about the employers on this year’s list is how quickly and effectively they’ve worked to create rewards and other programs developed from employee input. SMEs have enviable levels of customization, flexibility and speed-of-implementation that are difficult for larger employers to match."

Kristina Leung, managing editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project.

Small and medium employers have more dexterity when it comes to benefits, they can implement initiatives faster than large employers and it’s easier to gather employee feedback when you’re a more tight-knit team. Canada’s SME editors believe that makes small and medium employers more willing to experiment with new initiatives—and we couldn’t agree more.

Our People & Culture team is always exploring unique ways we can “take care of the whole person.” To make this possible, we have to listen to employee input. Based on the responses to our annual, company-wide People & Culture survey, our team was looking for more ways to receive and provide feedback. We recently introduced Lattice into our HR software systems and it has been incredibly valuable in fulfilling this need.

Lattice facilitates more opportunities for feedback between managers and their teams as well as creating structured time for professional development conversations. Team members can submit weekly touchpoint surveys to their managers and answer mini monthly People & Culture surveys.

By creating more avenues for feedback, we can make informed decisions on how best to support our team. And, by adopting these practices while we’re a midsize employer, we can stay well-connected and continue introducing industry-leading benefits as our team grows (we welcomed 58 new Redbrickers in 2023!). If you’re interested in seeing that happen for yourself with a career at Redbrick, take a look at our current openings.

"If you want to feel engaged and inspired in your daily work, we have a place for you."

Christine Tatham, Chief People Officer
