Assembly has been acquired by St. Joseph Communications (SJC), Canada's largest privately-owned print, media, and content marketing company.

Another big announcement for 2022 from Redbrick – Assembly will be bringing its proprietary digital publishing technology to the expansive readership and award-winning publications of St. Joseph Communications (SJC).

SJC is renowned for its outstanding journalism and owns some of Canada’s most popular publications including Maclean’s, Chatelaine, and Today’s Parent. With the addition of Assembly to SJC, the combined company will be the largest print and digital publisher in Canada.

Since being co-founded in 2015 by Redbrick’s CEO and CMO, Tobyn Sowden and Marco Pimentel, Assembly has undergone unprecedented growth and evolved into a cutting-edge, disruptive technology company powering digital media brands that garner over 30 million unique visitors every month.

"We have spent several years building technology that powers publishing brands. We felt it was time that we looked at opportunities that enabled our next phase of growth. This move will allow us to advance the potential of Assembly while providing St. Joseph Communications with the technology to better reach a larger audience and advertisers."

Jamie Geiger, CEO of Assembly

Together, Assembly and SJC will benefit from the powerful mix of a modern, technology-driven publishing infrastructure and a hundred years of traditional publishing expertise. Connecting SJC’s large network of journalistic talent with Assembly’s innovative publishing analytics enables both companies to grow their impact on the Canadian publishing industry.

Redbrick will leverage the funds from the acquisition to further grow its own portfolio, pushing forward in its commitment to build and acquire software that helps digital entrepreneurs thrive.

We look forward to cheering on Assembly in this exciting new chapter of growth.
